It's hot. Too hot. It may not last. But one thing you'll need to do is sort out what you're wearing. Step away from the Jesus sandals and Wilson socks.

1. DITCH THE JEANS

Look, I don't know how you're managing with those jeans but honestly, you'd be miles more comfortable in a pair of shorts. The janitor from Scrubs was right - ah, to be young and in shorts. I'm not saying they need to be cut-offs, because you're not a Never-Nude. There's dozens of you, we know. But a nice pair of shorts that stop in and around knee is perfect. They're only showing off the calves but the upward breeze is terrific. Your Johnson will thank you for it.

2. DITCH THE DENIM

Can't convince you to lose the jeans? Fine. Stop wearing denim, then. It's all fine and protective in the depths of winter, but we're not in the depths of winter. Somehow, Ireland has turned into a Mediterranean wonderland and we're all very thankful for it. A pair of light material chinos are the trick to surviving in the heat. You wouldn't wear denim jeans if you were in Barcelona, would you?

3. LIGHTEN THE MOOD

Lighter colours. This doesn't just mean blue and white. This means beige, pastel colours – anything that isn't harsh or oppressive. That black t-shirt may be your favourite, but you're going to be cursing it trying to wear it in this heat. The entire style choice should be based around being light and breezy. Got an oversized shirt? Wear it. Got a raggedy-old t-shirt with holes in it? Shit, man. Ryan Gosling wears that kinda thing. You can pull it off.

2. KEEP YOUR SHIRT ON

Unless you're doing manual labour, keep your shirt on. Don't take it off. Nobody wants to see it. Please. (Unless of course you look like this, then by all means go ahead. (Ps Editor Caroline Foran aded this bit in, Brian Lloyd wanted you all to know that the Ryan Gosling gif was not his idea)

1. LESS AND LESS

You're not going to need a jacket. You're definitely not going to need to a hat. Going out for the night? Plan like it's the middle of the day. The heat's staying right through the night so you're not going to find yourself shivering at 3AM whilst looking for a cab.
