Talk about a bad day at the office...
A man was arrested in Sri Lanka airport recently after allegedly attempting to smuggle multiple gold bars concealed in his rectum into the country.
400g of gold, so just shy of a pound/your average tub of butter, in the form of four bars was found inside the Sri Lankan man's rectal cavity after he was searched at Bandaranaike Airport. He was stopped by security after he was reportedly 'walking suspiciously'.
Apparently this is nothing new in Sri Lanka, with officials there arresting more than 70 people trying to smuggle gold bullion into the country this year alone, with smugglers buying the gold cheap in Dubai and Singapore and trying to offload it for profit in India, which now goes on our list of places to never, ever buy gold or jewellery in.
