Dear Saturday Night Live producers,

Just because you've managed to convince two "pop icons" to make eejits of themselves on telly, it doesn't automatically make it "comedy". There were a number of things wrong with your recent skit featuring Madonna and Lady GaGa, here a but a few:

1: It featured the real Lady GaGa and Madonna. People, preferably the hirsute male of the species, dressed up as them would have been funnier.

2: The dialogue was spectacularly humourless. I will pray for the team of people who presumably cobbled the script together.

3: It featured Keenan off Keenan and Kel. He wasn't funny on Nickelodeon so why give him a slot on a show which previously saw the talents of Will Ferrell, Bill Murray, Chris Rock and Tina Fey? Is your country that bereft of comedic talent?

It wasn't all bad, though. There was some light relief to be had when GaGa claimed she was hotter than Madonna (given the choice of having to look at Madonna or Lady GaGa's crotch for an indeterminable amount of time [trust me, it's happened] I would find myself transfixed by Madonna's for longer. Believe it or not, there's still a bit of mystery to it...). Ryan Reynolds popping up for a bit of a bop around the 2.30min mark, was also welcomed.

Yours sincerely,

Miffed in Dublin
