Awhh, isn't that nice. Madonna has forgiven Sir Elton John for dubbing her a fairground stripper. He also called her a c&*t; has she forgiven that one too?
Whilst performing in Nice on Tuesday, the 54 year old singer dedicated her song 'Masterpiece' to the British star saying "I know he's a big fan of it. And I know he's a big fan of mine. And you know? I forgive him. Gotta start somewhere". If you remember correctly, Masterpiece is the song that won Madge a Golden Globe earlier this year, which consequentially sent Elton and his hubby David Furnish completely over the edge when his Gnomeo and Juliet song was snubbed.
Then, adding more fuel to the fire, Elton made the following comments a while back on Australian radio:
'Why is she such a nightmare? Sorry, her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn't happen to a bigger ****.
'If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like 'Ray of Light' and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly.
'But no, she had to go and prove ... she looks like a f***ing fairground stripper.'
Nice.
Now we're not quite sure how genuine Madonna is being here. Does she really want to make amends? Doubtfully. More likely, this is a clever PR move. By 'forgiving' him, it makes her appear to us as the bigger person, too busy to bother embroiling herself in any more silly squabbles which thus give her the upper hand, giving her back some of the appeal she's lost of late while simultaneously making us look to Elton as the childish, bitchy one. There's certainly room to speculate anyway. These days you have your celebrity feuds (Cheryl Cole and Lily Allen) and your celebrity FEUUUUDS (Madge and Elton), the latter of which we rather enjoy. With comments as entertaining as the above. we don't really want them to become bffs; it's far more fun this way.
