If you're planning on making a long journey over the May Bank Holiday weekend, you'd better consider the train or, y'know, driving.

The National Bus & Rail Workers Union (NBRU) has voted in favour of industrial action on May 1st, in protest against plans to privatise certain bus routes.

As well as service disruptions, the NBRU is also planning a march on the Dail and through other areas on the day in question.

Representatives from the union have said that they expect over 1,700 workers marching on the day in question.

It's not yet known if the strike can be averted as plans are already underway for the Government to press on with privatisation of Bus Eireann and Dublin Bus.
