Ms. Lohan is to be charged with "felony grand theft" for (allegedly) stealing the underwhelming $2,500 necklace from a Venice, California jewellery store (they've had enough plugs already).
According to TMZ, the Los Angeles County District Attorney is expected to file the case against the actress on today following an investigation into the missing necklace, which was reportedly turned over to police by one of the star's associates last week. If convicted, she faces a return to prison - for a maximum of three years.
Sources tell the website, the actress plans to fight the charge. She maintains she took the jewellery item on loan and has nothing to feel bad about in the slightest.
Not so, says some mouthy legal expert by the name of Susan F. Filan, who's bleating that Lindsay could automatically face 6 months in the clink for acting the maggot in the eyes of the law: "She is automatically in violation of her probation if she gets arrested. She would face up to six months in state prison or county jail."
But, let's face it, that's unlikely. She'll probably just go back to rehab and have a tussle with one of the nurses...
