We understand why Lindsay Lohan's parents would be been banned from her reality TV show, what with them being media whore train-wrecks themselves, but we never thought someone would step in and actually have the balls to tell them to back off. Thankfully, Oprah has said balls.
After signing a $2 million deal with talk show host Oprah Winfrey and her OWN network to make an eight-part documentary on her controversial career, Lindsay's reality show producers have made the decision not to feature her controversial parents Michael and Dina Lohan. According to TMZ, bosses at OWN do not want to include the 'Lohan family circus' and although some footage has already been filmed featuring Michael, and may be used, Lindsay's parents will have nothing else to do with the show.
Michael and Dina, who divorced in 2007, have an acrimonious relationship and often hit out at each other in the media as they each blame the other for Lindsay's troubles instead of owning the fact that they may have been an influence on Lohan's behaviour. It is now expected that the reality series will feature on Lindsay's 'comeback and recovery' as planned.
Oprah recently revealed she was so concerned about Lindsay's show she went to visit the 27-year-old beauty - who completed 90 days of court-ordered treatment in rehab at the end of July - and warned her she would pull the plug on the upcoming documentary unless she showed more enthusiasm about the project.
She said: 'I went to her house just to say, 'What are you doing? Let's get real here.' And ... 'This is what's conflicting about it.' Because it's television and we stand to gain if it does well. I said, 'If I get here and Lindsay isn't serious, I will shut this thing down today.' '
Again, there's those cojones. You really don't mess with the Opes.
