Looks like Lindsay has a new champion sponsor in the form of Oprah Winfrey, who convinced her to cancel a trip to Europe fearing she'd relapse into her old ways.
Lindsay - who left rehab after 90 days of court-ordered treatment last week - reportedly planned the getaway while still recovering at the Cliffside Malibu centre in California, but has now axed the trip after receiving words of wisdom from the TV host. According to TMZ, Lohan was due to board a flight from New York City last night, however, she heeded Oprah's advice that the 'temptation to relapse would be too great'.
The legendary talk show star is said to have called Lindsay several times over the past 24 hours telling her not to travel and to instead focus on her sobriety.
Oprah has taken a vested interest in the 27-year-old actress' well-being following her well-documented troubles. Lindsay recently sat down with the star for her first TV interview following rehab, and after talking to her on camera, Oprah believes she is ready to move on with her life, telling MTV: 'I just interviewed her, and I was deeply moved by her desire to move forward in her life at this time ... I really do believe that she's ready.'
In case you're wondering why Oprah has such an interest in Lindsay, it may be out of genuine concern for her following her interview, but it also may have something to do with the fact that Oprah shelled out $2 million to Lohan in return for the interview and an eight part documentary that's set to air on Oprah's OWN network. Depends on how shrewd you consider Oprah to be, and how cynical you're willing to be on a Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, Lindsay has reportedly swapped Los Angeles for New York, feeling there is less temptation to fall into her old ways in the city, and is determined to stay clean, as a source said: 'Lindsay is doing so well, she's back in New York City and is trying to figure out where she is going to live and what she is going to do next.'
