Chris Pratt and Danny McBride are in talks to star in a new Knight Rider franchise, according to Schmoes Know.
The Weinstein Company are the force behind the project, with plans being put in place to bring the iconic 80's TV series onto our 21st Century cinema screens.
It's still unknown as to which parts McBride and Pratt are being lined up for, but speculation would point you in the direction of McBride playing the voice of K.I.T.T and Pratt playing Michael Knight. Although, I personally think Danny McBride could be a very funny, dark horse for the part of Knight.
Brad Copeland, who has written for series such as Arrested Development, My Name Is Earl and Grounded For Life, was contracted to write a script back in June of last year. This, coupled with Danny McBride's potential involvement, would indicate that the new Knight Rider may take a more comedic line.
I say 'more comedic line' because, let's face it, the original series is not one you could call entirely dramatic. But, one thing is for certain, the old Knight Rider was the bees knees and it's going to be a tough task trying to bate it. The possibility of The Weinstein Company bringing the project down a different path is probably wise, and it's definitely one that will gather a lot of attention.
The original show, which started way back in 1982, followed the majestic Michael Knight, played by the one and only David Hasselhoff. A crime fighter who, with the help of his super awesome and artificially intelligent car, K.I.T.T, worked to clean up the streets. 32 years on, and that premise still sounds brilliantly ridiculous.
While we're at it, let's take this opportunity to look back at the amazing Knight Rider intro. That theme music; it'd send shivers up your spine, lads, with the nostalgia.
Just don't f**k it up, guys, OK! Knight Rider and Boy George were about all that the 80's had going for it, so don't go messing around, y'hear.
