It's been over five years since Kevin Spacey's career came crashing down after the 'Usual Suspects' actor was first accused of sexual assault.
Multiple allegations were levelled against the 63-year-old actor, including the first by actor Anthony Rapp in October 2017, who claimed Spacey molested him when he was a teenager - although last year, a jury in New York sided with Spacey in a $40 million civil lawsuit brought by Rapp. Two other charges filed in Los Angeles and Nantucket were dropped following the death of one alleged victim, and the other opting not to testify. Multiple other people accused him of improper conduct.
Now, Spacey is facing another trial in London, which is due to start in a couple of weeks - and he says that people are lining up to hire him if he is cleared of all charges.
The actor has been charged with four counts of sexual assault, alleged to have taken place between 2005 and 2013.
He told ZEITMagazin: "It’s a time in which a lot of people are very afraid that if they support me, they will be cancelled. But I know that there are people right now who are ready to hire me the moment I am cleared of these charges in London. The second that happens, they’re ready to move forward."
He said that he had been buoyed by how people have supported him on the street, but added "The media have done their best to turn me into a monster, but from the people, I have seen nothing but affection.”
Spacey's career has been quiet in recent years, although he returned briefly to public view with various 'Christmas Eve' videos posted to Twitter and addressing his fans - one of them in character as his 'House of Cards' role of Frank Underwood.
More recently, he said in the interview that he has been writing scripts and short films and lent his voice to forthcoming thriller 'Control'. "Now, I often feel like I’m back at the beginning of my career, when nobody wanted me," he said. "Just because I was being benched for a while, I’m not going to stop working. I don’t want to get rusty. I’m ready."
The four-week trial will begin in London on June 28th.
