In the latest court development in their ongoing legal battle, Kesha has filed documents that she hopes will strengthen her assertion of Dr. Luke aka Lukasz Gottwald as an over-controlling figure who mentally, physically and verbally abused her.
Several of the emails released between the producer and Kesha's manager Monica Corina from 2012 make reference to keeping the pop star on diets, and saying that she was being passed over for songs in favour of other artists because of her weight; "A-list songwriters and producers are reluctant to give Kesha their songs because of her weight”.
"Nobody was calling anybody out,” one written by Gottwald reads. “We were having a discussion on how she can be more disciplined with her diet. there have been many times we have all witnessed her breaking her diet plan. this perticular [sic] time — it happened to be diet coke and turkey while on an all juice fast."
Another email documented a fight about lyrics for her song 'Crazy Kids', on which Kesha wanted to change the words but Gottwald responded: "I don’t give a shit what you want. If you were smart you would go in and sing.”
Kesha, who is still contracted to Dr. Luke's label, also claims that he raped her while she was unconscious. He has denied all claims of abuse and his lawyer called the three emails 'misleading' and 'out of context'. A telephone conference between all parties is scheduled to take place next week.
