Seven months ago, Lily Allen lost her baby at six months. Back in February, Amanda Holden lost her baby at seven months. Now, Kelly Brook - five months into her pregnancy - has been the latest celebrity to lose her unborn baby. To say this is an unfortunate trend is something of a grotesque understatement.
The British model /actress is said to be "devastated" after losing her baby girl over the weekend. According to the Daily Mirror, the 31-year-old was taken to hospital last week amid fears that she was miscarrying, and doctors later confirmed that the worst had happened. A source told the newspaper that boyfriend Thom Evans, 25, who she previously said would make the "perfect dad", is by her side as she recovers at her home in Kent, along with her mum Sandra. "Kelly is absolutely devastated. She was so looking forward to being a mum," said a friend. "Everyone is rallying around to make sure she and Thom will be OK. But it's all so raw at the moment and words can't express how they're both feeling."
The likes of Dannii Minogue and Mel B have sent their messages of support to Brook - via Twitter, of course. Minogue, 39, took to social networking site yesterday and wrote: "Sending big love to Kelly Brook and Thomas Evans." Former Spice Girl Mel B, 35, added: "My thoughts are with kelly and thomas at this difficult time right now!" The outpouring of Twitter support is fitting considering Kelly first announced she was pregnant on Twitter back in March, a few months after meeting rugby star Thom.
Her spokesman Jonathan Hackford has since confirmed reports of the miscarriage, saying: "Kelly Brook and Thom Evans have sadly lost their baby. They request that everyone please respect their privacy at this very painful time and there will be no further comment."
