Oooh how exciting. The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has invited the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge over to Ireland for a visit. We got on so well with Prince William's Granny, so why not extend our welcome to the younger members of the Royal Family? It can onlybe a good thing for our country. But will they acccept the invitation? We live in hope.
Rumour has it that Kenny issued the invite upon meeting Kate and Wills at a pre-Olympic event in London last week and apparently, they were 'very enthusiastic' about the idea (so say the Irish Independent). Although, while it's all well and good having a natter about popping over to our Emerald Isle, all formal invites must go through the powers that be at Buckingham Palace.
So if they DO come over, what kind of spread do you reckon we should put on for them? Will Kate take a leaf out of the Queen's book and arrive head to toe in shamrock green? Will Jedward get a look in? Will they sample a pint or two of Guinness? Will they make an effort to learn their cupla focail? Will PIPPA COME? Actually I'd prefer if she didn't. She'll make us all feel crap about our derrieres.
If this is an 'informal invite' then that means they wouldn't be here on any official business which therefore means they're here to have the pure craic. And if we do anything well in Ireland, it's that. Can we put on a good show for them?
Share your thoughts on how Kate and Wills should spend their time here, should they accept our leader's warm invitation.
