At this stage we'd be more likely to pen a story if a celebrity decided to name their baby something very ordinary like Rachel or James (that's not to say these aren't fantastic names, mind); by 2013, it's become the norm for these superstars to bestow upon their offspring a rather unusual name. Why is this? Why go for Apple, Banana, Blue Ivy or Uachtar Reoite when names like Mary and John have been considered perfectly suitable monikers for the last however many hundred years? Because these are names that'll stick around, stand out from the crowd. These celebs want their babies to be as famous around the world as they are, yet at the same time, they swathe them in cloth to protect them from the intimidating glare of the paparazzi.

The latest? Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's baby. As the second most famous unborn baby (following behind Kate and Will's of course), Kanye has said that he'd like to name his baby North. Does it mean something special to the duo? Nah, not so much, Kanye just wants to show his sense of humour in the name. We don't quite get the joke, do you? We do know North was the name of the bad-ass Santa Claus in Rise of the Guardians. But we reckon the links between that movie and Kanye's tot are tenuous.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, a source said: 'Kanye's ego is something else, so he's quite serious about the title... He also has a sense of humour though and knows how his self-indulgence is seen by the general public. It's half tongue-in-cheek, half what Kanye probably feels is true.'

This is unlikely to sit well with Kim, what with the tradition in her family of names beginning with K so it rings nicely with Kardashian. With Kanye's ego, however, we reckon there'll be quite a bit of back and forth over whose surname the nipper will take. West-Kardashian? Kardashian-West? Such are the first world woes of modern day celebrities.

Meanwhile, pregnant Kim has admitted she has begun to 'slow down' following her recent health scare, which saw her briefly hospitalised after falling ill on a flight from Paris to Los Angeles.

She told 'Extra': 'I got sick. It's hard when a lot is changing in your body and you get sick and you are travelling and so much is going on. It's tough.

'[I'm] trying to take it easy on the travelling a little bit. It's not easy being pregnant, I have to tell you.'

However, the 32-year-old beauty isn't quite ready to give up her high-heeled shoes for more comfortable footwear just yet.

She added: 'I'm trying to wear flats a little more. But not now.'
