In short, the reason why it's going to trial is - as far as I can make out - because Justin's people won't agree to him being randomly drug tested. Read into that what you may.
TMZ have... just reported... the ... following: "prosecutors are offering a no contest plea to reckless driving, with strings attached ... notably Justin must submit to random drug testing for 6 to 9 months. Sources connected with Bieber say they will NOT accept any plea that has probationary terms ... especially drug testing. Now law enforcement sources tell us ... they will not deal if Justin does not agree to random drug testing ... period. As a result, both sides are at an impasse."
Bieber has been pretty much cleared of the 'drag racing' (apparently he reached the heady heights of 27 miles per hour in his rented Lambo) and arresting officers also claimed Justin had a bang of booze off him, despite him only blowing a reported .014.
So what will he be going to trial for exactly? DUI (prescription meds), driving on an expired license, and resisting arrest. Oh, and for the publicity.
That's tax payers money well spent.
Speaking of which, The White House are due to pass comment regarding that petition to get Bieber's Green Card revoked. By law they had "to make an official response if more than 100,000 people sign before 22 February."
According to The Daily Mail, said petition "has drawn nearly 261,000 signatures as of (last) Friday morning, becoming the second most popular cause in the three-year history of the White House site."
