Given their relationship spanned almost two decades, it's safe to say Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeld had one of Hollywood's more enduring relationships. Their glue seemed to be that they weren't in fact married.
In an interview with Parade magazine back in 2010, the 44-year-old Mad Men actor admitted: "I don't have the marriage chip, and neither of us have the greatest examples of marriage in our families. But Jen is the love of my life, and we've already been together four times longer than my parents were married."
Like Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, people thought they'd be together forever, but unfortunately the pair have decided to split after 18 years together.
The couple released a statement last night to the New York Post, which reads: "With great sadness, we have decided to separate, after 18 years of love and shared history. We will continue to be supportive of each other in every way possible moving forward."
A source speaking to Star Magazine recently said: "... it wasn’t the 44-year-old star’s addiction that brought on the breakup - it was Jon’s reluctance to start a family with the 45-year-old actress. 'I don’t have a driving force to have a baby,' the actor has previously said. 'That said, I’m in a committed relationship, and if it ever came up, I’m not ruling it out.' However, sources say he did just that. 'Jennifer realized that she and Jon don’t want the same things,' says the pal. 'So they agreed that it was time to take a step back'."
If Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell ever break up, we'll lose all faith in humanity.
