The fallout from the divorce of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp took another twist when Depp's assistant reportedly agreed to testify under oath that he never sent Heard texts after an alleged assault and never discussed violent behaviour with the 30-year-old actress.

Entertainment Tonight claimed exclusivity on the text messages which apparently said "He’s incredibly apologetic and knows that he has done wrong. He wants to get better now. He’s been very explicit about that this morning." As well as "He was appalled. When I told him he kicked you, he cried. It was disgusting. And he knows it."

Stephen Deuters told TMZ that the texts were "heavily doctored" and he knows of no abuse of Heard by Johnny Depp.

Heard had previously said the only reason she thought about filing a police report in the first place was because of how she was being perceived in the media, with a source saying she had "no intention" of publicly hurting Depp. She reportedly changed her mind on the report as it would trigger an arrest warrant for Depp and an inevitable court case.

While this disturbing situation continues to play out in public, we can only imagine how difficult it is for people in violent situations.
