Avengers star Jeremy Renner is currently in hospital in critical but stable condition following a serious accident near his home.
It's believed that the 51-year-old actor, who plays Hawkeye in the Marvel franchise, was airlifted to hospital after suffering "blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries" while plowing snow at his home near Tahoe, California.
Some reports suggest that he injured his leg in the incident, which happened yesterday, with TMZ quoting a neighbour as saying that the plow ran over his leg and caused major blood loss. They say that a quick-thinking local applied a tourniquet until medical help arrived.
Reps for the actor have confirmed that he has since undergone surgery and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit, according to a statement which read:
"We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries and has undergone surgery today, January 2nd 2023. He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition."
It added: "Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families.
"They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans."
Parts of the USA have suffered extremely heavy snowfall in recent weeks, and Renner has been pictured plowing snow on social media last month.
Get well soon.
