You know what I'm going to start banging on about in a minute, but first to the 'facts'.
According to Heat Magazine, Jennifer Lawrence - upon meeting director Alfonso Cuaron at the Vanity Fair and Armani Party over the weekend - first screamed and was then "overheard" saying "I broke out my rape scream for you."
Now, kids, rape is not funny. It has never been funny, nor will it ever be something one can be flippant about. That's obvious. But if a woman dare quips about it, then it seems to be even more unforgiveable. For example, here's what Perez Hilton had to say of the incident:
"We know you're always open and honest in interviews, but COME ON, a rape joke?!? We're sure she thought that what was said at the party was private, but even still, that's no excuse for a rape joke!! They're not funny, ever."
All valid/obvious points there. She said it in private, "but that's no excuse for a rape joke." She said it in private - not, let's say, repeatedly on an animated TV show that's watched by millions of teenagers across the world *AHEMSFAMILYGUY*. And yet the creator of said cartoon got asked to host The Oscars. He also finds the abuse of children a constant source of comedy. And yet no one's up in arms about that. Just saying.
