The revelations just keep on coming this week as more and more female stars are speaking out about the actions of Harvey Weinstein, as well as other misconduct they have had to put up with in the industry and now James Van Der Beek has spoken out against harassment he faced while working as a younger actor.
The former Dawson's Creek star took to Twitter earlier today to offer support to the women who had spoken out against Weinstein.
Take a look below:
For anyone judging the women who stayed silent, read this for perspective. Also for anyone brushing off harassment as “boys being boys.” https://t.co/UX9xWxpn2K

What Weinstein is being accused of is criminal. What he’s admitted to is unacceptable - in any industry. I applaud everybody speaking out.

I’ve had my ass grabbed by older, powerful men, I’ve had them corner me in inappropriate sexual conversations when I was much younger...

I understand the unwarranted shame, powerlessness & inability to blow the whistle. There’s a power dynamic that feels impossible to overcome

The 40-year-old actor, who has been married to producer Kimberly Brook since 2010, did not name names and following speculation today over who he could have been referring to, the actor tweeted: "FTR, the harassment I tweeted about was by people 99.9% of you don’t know. 2 were charged (by others) & punished. The other has since died.
"So apologies to any mentors & champions and wonderful friends I’ve made in this industry who may have been pulled into wrongful speculation.
Adding: "I realize I left a door open by not initially naming, but please don’t impugn innocent people w/out cause. That’s not fair. Or right."
