While the tallies are still being counted across the country, it now looks certain a landslide victory for the campaign to repeal the eighth amendment from Ireland's constitution has taken place.
Exit polls from RTE and the Irish Times last night suggested a significant majority of Irish people were in favour of repeal, including some well-known faces who took part in the campaign as well. Sharon Horgan, Jamie Heaslip, Ian Madigan and many others all took part in the #HomeToVote campaign whilst others were ardently campaigning throughout.
Here's a few tweets from when the results came in.
Cried reading this. Thank you everyone who voted for change. The yes vote is bigger than just Ireland. It’s a message of hope to the world https://t.co/0RaVyvIKYI

The shackles are off. This is a New Ireland. Hold our heads up high. In one day we have grown up. #thankyou to the women who shared their stories, the incredible campaigners. And sorry to women who will still have to travel until the law is changed. #repealed #yes
