Well, that's it, our love of cats is officially out of control.
Ireland, like most other countries, faces the annihilation of our civilisation at some dark stage in the unknown world of the future, and in that post-apocalyptic landscape there will be no laws, and archaeologists will have to dart out under cover of darkness and scramble around in the dirt, like common vermin, to try and piece together clues about how we lived from what fragments they can rescue, hidden amongst the rubble.
There, they will find mostly stuff about cats, and they will assume that we worshiped them as our gods, and they ruled us with an iron claw. That, of course, is not too far from the truth, and there is more compelling evidence to back that up after the announcement that Dublin's first cat café is on the way in 2015.
What's a cat café you ask? Well, it's a place where you go to have a coffee (or possibly work on your screenplay for Cats and Dogs 5: I'm Feline Fine) surrounded by loads of cats and probably other like-minded people who want to spend their free time in the company of cats.
Georgina O’Neill told the Daily Edge that she plans to open the café next September, and will fill it with cats from animal charities, which the café will then support. She did say, however, that it's unlikely to be in the Dublin city centre, given the costs and the fact that the busy roads of the city centre don't make the safest surroundings for kitties.
We're sure that they'll be able to reveal more once they've put in fur planning purr-mission on the pre-meow-sis, but it looks like Lucan will be the place where it first opens its doors. We're also assuming the milky coffees will be in particularly high demand...
