Jordan Axani is hoping that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet...
After planning a great trip around the world with his girlfriend Elizabeth Gallagher, Jordan Axani of Toronto had a bit of a problem to solve when the couple broke up before the trip even took place.
So, now he has a ticket with his name on it, one with hers, and the prospect of a trip around the world solo staring him in the face, so he turned to the internet to help him out. On a post on reddit, he laid out the details of the case, saying that "the archaic system that is modern air travel" makes it pretty difficult ot change a name on a ticket and that the tickets are "so cheap and on so many different airlines that they're not worth the headache or money to cancel". While we're sure that last bit is probably not entirely true, and Jordan might not be stuck for cash, this is still a pretty great offer, because Jordan wants a woman named Elizabeth Gallagher to head away with him, no charge.
The flight leaves from Toronto just before Christmas, then hits Milan, Prague, Paris, Bangkok and New Dehli before heading back to Canada again in January, and Axani has stated that "if you feel compelled to toss me a couple hundred bucks, great", but there was no pressure to do so, he just asks that you not be an axe murdered. He swears he isn't either.
There are a few terms and conditions (no such thing as a free lunch) which are a little bit beyond the usual, one of them being that, obviously, your name has to be Elizabeth Gallagher. We can see you packing your bag already there Liz in Letterkenny, but just slow down a second, because you also need to have a Candadian passport, and a few spare quid, because "no hotels, trains or anything have been booked. You're on your own, bucko". Jordan will get the first glass of wine in the airport however.
Axani also stated that he was looking for a travel companion but that he's all about embracing the spontaneity of life, and that you don't have to feel any obligation to hang around with him either: "I'm easy and have no problem with someone taking the tickets and doing their own thing (see ya on the plane!)".
As of his latest update on the post, he said he's had thousands of entries, and that "it's safe to say this thing is going viral". You can keep an eye on the progress of the selection process on Jordan's website where he will hopefully let us know who wins. We're going to the bookies with a few quid on "Elizabeth Gallagher" now though, we're pretty confident she'll get the prize.
