Although there's been some snow already this year in Ireland, the odds for a White Christmas are still somewhat favourable if you're placing a bet.
Both Paddy Power and Boyle Sports are offering 3 / 1 odds for a White Christmas - specifically, that's "snow being recorded at the city's main international airport weather station on 25th December 2017", according to PP.
Boyle Sports reported a number of bets as early as last week which drove down odds from 5 / 1 to its current offering of 3 / 1. In spite of this however, long-range forecasts have it that it's a lost bet, with AccuWeather claiming that Christmas Day will be cloudy with some rain, with a top temperature of just 8C. Met Eireann, meanwhile, reports no snow for the early part of next week either.
Ireland's last White Christmas at Dublin Airport took place in 2004, however snow has fallen countrywide as recently as 2010. The highest amount of snowfall ever recorded in Ireland took place at Casement Aerdrome in 1962, when a total of 45 inches was recorded on New Year's Eve that year.
