Just in time to make sure you don't go paddling and are terrified to go anywhere near the water in North America this summer, a monster of a fish is currently being hunted in Central Park and in New York in general. The northern snakehead fish, named to instill the appropriate amount of terror, hails from China, Russia and Korea and has been present in the Big Apple for the past few years in small numbers, but suddenly the number present has swelled alarmingly.

Some freaky facts about it? Well it eats frogs and crayfish, and can live out of water for days if needs be with 'many sharp teeth and a large mouth reaching far behind the eyes'. It's proving a menace to the ecosystem locally, so when it's caught, fishers are being told 'DO NOT RELEASE' but 'Kill it immediately', take it home and chuck it on ice and report it to the Department of Environmental Conservation who plan on eradicating it. Eradicating. Clearly a mutant fish bent on taking Manhattan by force and this is all a ruse to cover it up.
