Might want to put your lattes down for this one.

It appears that Alicia Silverstone is as philanthropic in real life as her on-screen counterpart, Cher in Clueless. Whether it was organising a food drive, the setting up of Ms Geist and Mr Hall or Tai's makeover, Cher was the quintessential altruistic (weatlhy) do-gooder. And Alicia's no different. She's been a member of PETA for quite some time, and now, Jezebel tell us she's all for the sharing of breast milk.

Via her blog, Alicia hopes to make life easier for the many American women who struggle to produce breastmilk for their own kids. Perhaps it's my own ignorance, but I was of the assumption that if you couldn't give your offspring your own milk, you weren't likely to want it drinking someone else's. Boy was I wrong. Milk donors are a very real thing.

"If you have milk to share - post it! If you are in need of milk - post it! Think of all the babies we can help raise together!"

"A lot of women unfortunately struggle, and there's no reason why they shouldn't be able to give their babies the most amazing start in life with clean, mean, glorious breast milk. And because we are a community of beautiful souls who recognize the importance of food as health, I say we help support those mamas and babies who need a hand during one of the most important times in their lives. It's why I'm starting the Kind Mama Milk Share, a way for moms to connect with other moms in their area."

Won't be long now before the trend spreads over here. Would you partake?
