Ryan Gosling just loves to toy with our emotions and keep us on our toes when it comes to his private life. And we know we shouldn't be prying but if he would just accept our friend request on Facebook it'd be fine and we could just keep tabs on his relationship status there so no, we have to go to the tabloids to find out if everyone's favourite Hollywood dreamboat is still with Eva Mendes or is single again.

And the answer is: Sort of. Which, let's be honest, is better than engaged or something.

Us Weekly reported over the weekend that the pair have hit a rocky patch, with the duo actually breaking up for a brief period six months ago because 'He can be moody, and she's insecure. She sees a text from a mystery number and assumes he's talking to other girls' or so says a 'close source'.  They also point to the fact that Mendes has now shut down any chance of press inquiring about the state of the relationship, flatly confirming that it's not a topic that's up for discussion in interviews.

Now Eva's reps, they've denied the whole thing by saying: 'The whole story is completely false', but Us Weekly's Gosling source apparently thinks the end is nigh, saying 'I wouldn't be surprised if they split for good soon.'

So yay? Well not yay for heartache and people being sad, but yay for a possibly single and more out and about Gosling. It feels like he's dropped off the face of the Earth, and we all know if he actually did that the world would officially become a more terrible place.
