Not content with winning the World Cup in football, Germany have taken it a step further by being recognised as the best country in the world, according the a report at the World Economic Forum.
The event, held annually in Davos, Switzerland saw the generation of the report which examined 60 nations in the areas of sustainability, adventure, cultural influence, entrepreneurship and economic influence.
More than 6,200 business leaders, highfliers and other members of the public were surveyed to gather the data. The study is a joint project between U.S. News & World Report, New York-based strategic brand consultancy BAV Consulting and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. The group launched the Best Countries website in Davos to highlight the findings.
Canada placed second on the list, with the UK and America rounding out the top four. Although the US ranked 4th overall it is ranked the most powerful country overall.
Ireland placed 18th in the list, one behind China and just above South Korea.
