The Cannes Film Festival attracts some of the world's best actors, who also just so happen to be incredibly stylish.
The red carpet is always a place to show off your sense of style knowing that it will be captured by the waiting photographers, so there's also a lot of pressure to get it right. Thankfully, we have plenty of examples from this year in the gallery below where, casual or formal, the stars were out in their finest, looking the part from head to toe.
Ryan Reynolds features twice in our gallery as his sense of style was evident both in a tux with an interesting white bow tie, as well as in a more casual setting with a few neutral tones. He gave the simple navy slacks and check shirt combo some personality with a bright pocket square and some eye catching brown shoes. Ryan Gosling also features twice, proving that simplicity can be stylish if done with confidence, and he certainly pulls that off in his tux with no tie and his short sleeved shirt with fitted brown slacks.
Xavier Dolan's green suit is a daring colour, and he proved to be an entertaining watch on the red carpet with a few other choices from left field. Here, the tone suits his colouring very well, and having gone for a statement with the suit, he stuck to a classic white shirt and simple brown shoes that made the whole outfit work together nicely. Yoo Jun-sang also chose bright and bold colours that were particularly vibrant, topping them off with a two-tone brogue that made the look complete.
Luca Argento and Daniel Bruhl both opted for shades of blue for their tuxedos, and while Bruhl's is understated, it is different enough to catch the eye. Argento's midnight blue with a black shawl is also a perfect combination when paired with classic black slacks.
Matt Smith of Doctor Who fame was looking relaxed but smart with a bold print on his blazer, and a few shades of blue all working together on the rest of his outfit, right down to the slip-on shoes he wore without socks, a look that's very much on trend for the summer months.
Lambert Wilson's cranberry tuxedo was another of the bolder choices when it comes to colour, but the French actor (perhaps best known for his role in The Matrix movies) oozes style and sophistication, completely at east and confident that his ensemble works.
Gabriel Garko had a few interesting outfits across the festival, and while he did opt for a white three piece with a wide pinstripe shirt on one evening that made him look like a knife-wielding compadrito on the streets of Buenos Aires in the 1930s, his combo of a bold-patterned waistcoat with a simple black tux was enough to make him stand out from the crowd here. Similarly, Jon Kortajarena (a man who is impossibly good-looking) went simple, but added a bit of flair with a simple pocket square, something we're a big fan of. He opted for a wide lapel à la The Wolf of Wall Street, and we can expect to see plenty more of that in the coming months, but Adrian Grenier's skinny lapel went the other direction and proved that look isn't going anywhere soon either.
Finally, we couldn't leave without mentioning Justin Bieber: the little goatee beard thing that only exists when examined with a telescope from up close, the rolled up sleeves on a slightly shiny jacket that looks like it's too big... It's not good Biebs.
