The British Fashion Awards celebrated themselves yesterday, so everybody decided to wear black. Naomi Campbell, Naomi Campbell's mate, Lily Cole and her hair, Twiggy, Daisy Lowe, Samantha Cameron, VV Brown, Alice Dellal's arse, Dame (yes, Dame) Kelly Holmes, and this yoke.
Of course, there were those who brought a twist to their black. Claudia Schiffer came as a tasty chocolate box, Sadie Frost went with candy stripes, Emma Roberts opted for a Penny's negligee, while Kelly Brook channelled Mae West Let Loose With The Tie Die.
Then there were those who went for the polar opposite of black. Namely Alexa Chung and Daphne Guiness, both of which should indeed avoid the slimming attributes of black. Kimberly Walsh and Myleene Klass, on the other hand, looked lucious. Lastly, and you might want to shield your eyes at this point, Bianca Jagger, Henry Holland, and Yasmin Le Bon went for the other extreme.
In saying that, most departed the soiree sporting the same "heavy lidded, unstable/bemused, rollie proffering, smoke hoofing, back of cab cum maniacal gurning" look. Best transition from beauty to bowsie goes to Ms. Lowe.
