Good news for those looking for something to watch from home - especially if you're a fan of the series 'Fleabag' from Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
As most fans know, the series was originally a one woman show from the writer-actress. Waller-Bridge first performed 'Fleabag' in 2013 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Like the BBC Three series, the original play is a tragicomedy. It is based on the life and relationships of an angry, humourous, sexually voracious young woman living in London.
Critics praised the play for its sharp originality and wicked sense of humour. Waller-Bridge was universally found to be charismatic in her messy humanity.
The TV adaptation earned her a BAFTA as well as four Emmys.
Recorded at Wyndham’s Theatre and first broadcast to cinemas by NT Live in September 2019, the performance of 'Fleabag' will be available on Soho Theatre On Demand in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, as well as on Amazon Prime Video (US, UK).
But we're getting it earlier. And by earlier, we mean now.
The show became available to stream in the UK and Ireland on Soho Theatre’s On Demand streaming site as of yesterday.
You can get a 48-hour download for £4.00 (€4.54 approx.).
Better still, all proceeds (minus taxes and processing costs) will be distributed to charities including The National Emergencies Trust (NET), NHS Charities Together and Acting For Others, as well as the newly launched 'Fleabag Support Fund'. The latter will distribute grants of £2500 to freelancers working in the UK theatre industry affected by the crisis.
Fundraising kickstarted at £356,000, including a substantial donation from Waller-Bridge. The ‘Fleabag’ Support Fund will continue to collect donations through its GoFundMe.
