Fashion designer Kate Spade has died at the age of 55.
Spade created the fashion brand which bore her name in the early '90s, before selling the company off in 2007. Eventually, the brand was purchased by rival handbag designers Coach last year in a deal understood to be worth close to $2.4 billion. The New York Times is reporting that Spade took her own life at her apartment in New York, where she was discovered by her housekeeper and husband.
