International superstar Britney Spears has checked herself into a mental health facility due to her father's illness.
It comes in the wake of Spears' father, 66-year-old Jamie Spears, having major issues with his internal organs. Mr Spears has had two surgeries on his intestines and colon, but does not seem to be getting better.
According to TMZ, Britney Spears has admitted herself to the mental health facility to have some "me time." The singer is believed to be at the facility for up to 30 days. She posted an inspirational quote onto her Instagram page last night, which reads "Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit."
Earlier this year, the singer put her Las Vegas residency on hold due to her father's illness. In January, she posted a picture onto her Instagram page, of when she was a young girl with both of her parents at her side. She made the statement of "I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand."
Fans of Britney Spears have been sending kind messages to the singer on social media. Some have been highlighting the fact that 12 years ago, the singer made headlines worldwide for her widely-publicised mental breakdown, one of the "nastiest moments in pop culture history."
Britney Spears’ mental health was a punchline in 2007... and to this day, I still think that it’s one of the most nastiest moments in pop culture history.
