See, it's ALL about the blue tick. If the twitter account ain't got the blue tick (and has about 11,000 followers as opposed to the 12.2million the real Ed Sheeran has) then it's probably someone pretending to be Ed Sheeran (or in this case "edsheersan"). Especially when they're tweeting stuff like...
Thank u for 11K I used to be stuck at 75 followers for weeks now I have more people to annoy
— Ed Sheeran (@edsheersan) February 9, 2015
The replies to that tweet make me feel bad they're hating on Gaga she didn't do nothin
— Ed Sheeran (@edsheersan) February 9, 2015
Doesn't really sound like Ed Sheeran, does it? So why would a fake Ed Sheeran feel bad about Lady Gaga? It's because Us Weekly, followed by innumerable media outlets (ourselves included) picked up on this tweet and reckoned it was real... Then a load of real Ed Sheeran fans started giving the real Lady Gaga a load of flack.
@usweekly Has deleted their tweet, but the article is still online @edsheersan 😂 pic.twitter.com/5u9jz2ctvb

As for the original tweet, here it is...
I love @ladygaga. Spoke to her earlier and she mistook me for a waiter. Gotta love the #GRAMMYs. #INeedANewSuit? Aha.
— Ed Sheeran (@edsheersan) February 9, 2015
Needless to say, Gaga's legion of little monsters have her back...
@usweekly YOURE SO DUMB. IT WAS A FAKE ED SHEERAN ACCOUNT. DELETE THIS BECAUSE YOURE MAKING HER LOOK BAD.

@usweekly get your facts straight! That's a fake/parody Twitter account! Lol. The real Ed Sheeran did not tweet that.
