Nothing like a good celebrity feud to kick start your week after a bank holiday Monday. We're not massive Madonna fans in here but jaysus, Elton John really hates her. Once again the Rocket Man has slammed the Queen of Pop, this time saying she resembles a 'f*cking fairground stripper'. He EVEN went so far as to brand her a See-You-Next-Tuesday, live on Australian radio. That's a bit harsh, even by our standards. We just don't like it when she jiggles her posterior around.
So what's the reasoning behind this latest outburst? Well we all know Elton and Lady GaGa are bosom buddies - she is, afterall, godmother to his and David Furnish's 19-month-old son Zachary - so naturally, he's going to step in when he thinks that Madge and her minge have been 'horrible' to the Poker Face singer.
Speaking on Australian news and current affairs programme, 'Sunday Night', he made the claim that Madonna has no right to criticize other artists because her 'career is over' and her recent 'MDNA' tour has been an absolute joke.
"Why is she such a nightmare? Sorry, her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn't happen to a bigger ****... If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like 'Ray of Light' and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly... But no, she had to go and prove ... she looks like a f***ing fairground stripper. She's been horrible to Gaga."
Nice.
Does Madonna really have no place to comment on other artists? And was she entirely out of line to say that GaGa's Born This Way single had many similarities to her own 1989 hit 'Express Yourself'? She said: "I thought, 'what a wonderful way to redo my song.' I mean, I recognised the chord changes. I thought it was... interesting." Well at least we can commend her on her acidic wit.
For those of you who are up on your celebrity feuds, you'll know that this isn't the first time Elton's had a go at Madge. Earlier this year he implied that she wouldn't sing live at the Super Bowl half-time show, saying she should 'lip-synch good' in her performance. Even his fella David got in on the action when she won a Golden Globe for her song 'Masterpiece' for her directorial debut movie 'W.E.', branding her 'embarrassing' and 'desperate'. He wrote on Facebook: "Madonna. Best song???? F*ck off!!!!"
"Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is. (sic)"
There's only one way to settle this: Madonna, put some clothes on (especially around your nether regions, thanks) and lose the cheerleading outfits. Elton, you're 65 years old. Grow up.
