North Frederick Street in Dublin was definitely buzzing yesterday when a giant swarm of bees was spotted by passers by.
The swarm swooped down on a can of coke that was thrown on the ground by a passer by, and stayed there for the best part of an hour, until a beekeeper came to sort the whole thing out.
According to The Irish Times, the bees were spotted just after 3pm, and Gardaí showed up on the scene to make sure that pedestrians steered clear of the swarm who were focused on the sugary beverage on the footpath.

A beekeeper appeared later to take the queen, and the rest followed shortly afterwards in search of a new place to call home, as Paul Boyle of the Federation of Irish Beekeepers explained: "This is how honey bees produce new colonies. The queen bee leaves the colony with about 60 per cent of the worker bees from the old hive in search of a new home. They won’t be aggressive towards us at all, unless they perceive you as a threat".
