The actor will probably always be synonymous with the world’s most famous wizard. He's taken on numerous roles since that are miles away from Hogwarts, for example, in Imperium and Swiss Army Man, but is there any chance of seeing him play that iconic character again?

Daniel Radcliffe spoke to The Hollywood Reporter at the Deauville Film Festival and said ‘I’m never going to close the door; that would be a stupid thing to do.’ Be still our nerdy hearts!

Radcliffe, who had just received the Rising Star award at the festival, continued: ‘But I think I’ll be happy enough and secure enough to let someone else play it.’

Referring to the role in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Radcliffe stated: ‘At the moment it’s not even a concern because I’m too young to play the character, but even in 10 years' time I would still feel strange about going back to it.’

Although he said he hasn’t seen the play yet, star Jamie Parker, who plays the Boy who Lived, has been receiving rave reviews and Radcliffe said he thought Parker could take on the film role too.

Radcliffe mused about how a new Harry Potter film, which Warner Brothers has not green lit just yet, could be great or go horribly wrong: ‘There’s a part of me that’s like, some things are better left untouched. If we went back to Potter, there’s a chance we’d make what Star Wars: The Force Awakens was to the original Star Wars, but there’s also the chance that we’d make Phantom Menace.

‘So I don’t want to go back to anything like that and maybe sour what people have already loved.’
