Because nothing says 'I love you' like a processed meat product made of several animals and mashed together.
According to the Chengdu Evening News, a 28-year-old man surnamed Wang proposed to his girlfriend surnamed Chen last Saturday but instead of the traditional down on one knee method, he went for the less well known '1,001 hot dogs' proposal. What, you've never heard of it?

Armed with a heart-shaped balloon and more hot dogs than you've ever likely seen in your life shaped to read 'I love you', Mr. Chen surprised his bride to be by popping the question in front of all their mates. The pair apparently met in a hot dog establishment in Thailand, hence all the meat and bread.
God knows what their wedding will look/smell like.
