In addition to posts from Emma Thompson, Daniel Radcliffe, JK Rowling, and Emma Watson, people across the globe have once again taken time out of this week to pay tribute to a great human being.
Ralph Fiennes (AKA Voldemort) and Michael Gambon (AKA latter day Dumbledore) had the following to add after learning the news of Rickman's departure yesterday.
Fiennes: "I cannot believe he is gone and we are the poorer for it. But his spirit and great generosity live on the hearts of everyone who knew him. Funny, acutely perceptive, extraordinarily loyal and giving - Alan cared.”
Gambon: "Everybody loved Alan. He was always happy and fun and creative and very, very funny.”
Sir Patrick Stewart: "Alan was perhaps our most distinctive and unique stage and film performer, with a voice and phrasing that teased and taunted, mocked and despaired. I first worked with him at the RSC in Peter Brook’s 1978 production of Antony and Cleopatra, with Glenda Jackson. As the Major-Domo of Cleopatra’s court he was commanding, witty and cynical. His world-weary tolerance of those around him stays with me vividly. He is irreplaceable."
Kate Winslet, who starred alongside him in Sense and Sensibility, had this to say: "He was loved enormously by so many. He was an exceptionally warm and giving man and an utterly phenomenal actor and gifted director. I remember being so intimidated by him when we worked together when I was 19 , because he had such a powerful and commanding presence . And that voice! Oh, that voice..." She also added that he was a "warm-hearted puppy dog" and that her "life was enriched by knowing him."
Ruby Wax: "We met at the Edinburgh festival in 1976 and he was the most charismatic, sexiest thing I’d ever seen. So for the rest of my life I was driven to make sure I was his closest friend. I fought for that! But so many other women tried for it too."
Helen Mirren: "Alan was a towering person – physically, mentally and as an artist. He was utterly distinctive, with a voice that could suggest honey or a hidden stiletto blade, and the profile of a Roman emperor. He was also a great friend, generous and social. He will be very missed by many."
His Galaxy Quest co-star, Sigourney Weaver, said: "He used his talent always to make a difference, his production of Rachel Corrie being one of the most powerful examples. Alan’s enormous strength of character infused every character he played. Who else could have brought such pain and wit to Snape? I can’t believe he’s gone."
Ian McKellen posted the following tweet...

He also added that Rickman was "a super-active spirit, questing and achieving, a super-hero, unassuming but deadly effective."
What desperately sad news about Alan Rickman. A man of such talent, wicked charm & stunning screen & stage presence. He'll be sorely missed
