What better way to meet your biological father for the first time than by scaring the sh*t out of him while dressed as a Will Ferrell character.

It's a pretty big gamble dressing up as a Christmas character in normal, everyday life - but when it's to meet your biological father for the first time... that's a risky affair. However, that was the plan for Doug Henning, who wore a full-on Buddy the Elf attire for such an encounter.

Fans of 'Elf' will be familiar with the storyline, but just in case you need a refresher, it revolves around an "Elf" played by Will Ferrell who journeys to New York City to meet up with his real father, getting run over by cars, eating cotton wool, and attempting to spread the joy of Christmas everywhere he goes.

And so, Doug decided that the best film he could use for inspiration would be the family comedy. He even managed to sing this iconic line to his father when they met: "I was adopted, but you never knew I was born. And now you found me, and you’re here, and guess what: I love you, I love you, I love you!"

Unfortunately, Doug's father never saw the movie and was left perplexed with his son's strange look. None the less, it makes for quite a feelgood video to watch.
