The feud between Britney Spears and her sister Jamie Lynn Spear continues following the latter's interview on GMA about her new memoir and relationship with Britney.

Since the interview, Britney Spears has tweeted a number of lengthy statements in response to Jamie Lynn's comments.

When asked about her sister's conservatorship, Jamie Lynn said she "took no steps to be a part of" it.

She also said: "When it was put into place I was 17 years old. I was about to have a baby, so I didn't understand what was happening."

She added: "I've always been my sister's biggest supporter", and even spoke to Britney's former legal team, but "it did not end well in my favour."

Jamie Lynn also commented that while she tried to help Britney, it was up to her big sister to "walk through the door."

Britney Spears said on Twitter: "my sister said how my behavior was out of control. She was never around me much 15 years ago at that time... so why are they even talking about that unless she wants to sell a book at my expense??? REALLY???"

The singer hadn't had her final say though and posted another statement this weekend reading: "Jamie Lynn... I don’t think your book is about me at all…I said some harsh things because you obviously hurt me by the things you are making up about me!!"

Britney also acknowledged that while her sister has “worked hard for the life you have and you have done amazing !!!! But I think we both have to agree to the fact that the family has never been remotely as hard on you as they have been on me !!!"

Britney reiterated how she was mistreated for years by her family, and in particular, her father, Jamie Spears. She said "For you to sit back and act completely aloof to what has happened to me is honesty [sic] insane to me !!! "

She said that she loves Jamie Lynn unconditionally and thinks that having their feud publicly is "tacky".

She added that while she was staying involuntarily at a psychiatric facility, Jamie Lynn "would take days to respond" to her calls, when she needed her sister and her "support more than anything."

She concluded: "I don't care anymore !!! Say whatever you want to say, just know I do know your real heart more than anyone !!! It’s your life and you deserve a beautiful life !!!

"... I admire you for being strong ... just know I love you and I think you know that already more than anything !!!"
