An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 has just rattled Los Angeles.
The quake, which occured at about 6.25 a.m local time, was centred about 15 miles northwest of downtown LA, and is reported to be a little more than 5 miles deep with the epicentre near the Sepulveda Pass in the Santa Monica Mountains and only about 6 miles from Beverly Hills, according to The US Geological Survey.
Los Angeles Police and Fire Department have reported no initial earthquake-related damage or injury.
While earthquakes of this magnitude are not uncommon for the LA area, there hasn't been one of this size since the 6.7 magnitude Northridge quake that killed several dozen and caused $25 billion damage 20 years ago.
These news anchors for KTLA were in the middle of a broadcast when the quake hit. Scary stuff.
