U2 frontman Bono reportedly suffered a health scare while holidaying with family and friends in the south of France.

Bono knew he couldn't make it on his own, so his wife Ali accompanied him to the Princess Grace Memorial Hospital in Monaco after he complained of chest pains.

Thankfully for U2 fans this wasn't the real thing and the singer didn't have to stay overnight. The Irish Independent reports that a leading heart specialist examined Bono and told him to get plenty of rest.

He was later spotted on Friday night relaxing in Monaco's exclusive nightspot Saas Cafe with his wife Ali Hewson, Julian Lennon and designer John Rocha, but left early in his newly acquired Audi A8 (I would have thought he'd just walk on… okay that's enough now, apologies).

This is the second health scare Bono has suffered over the last year. In 2010 he was forced to pull out of U2's headline performance at Glastonbury because he had to undergo emergency back surgery.

The band have only recently wrapped up their mammoth 360° Tour world tour in Canada. The jaunt grossed a record-breaking $736,137,344 (£448 million) worldwide.

He also has the $1bn he received from his Facebook investment to help insure that he won't be spending his last night on earth anytime soon (I lied).
