A memorial for Kobe Bryant and his teenage daughter Gianna took place at the Staple Centre, home to the Los Angeles Lakers, yesterday.
Kobe and Gianna were tragically killed when the helicopter they travelling in crashed in Calabasas, California, crashed on 26 January. There were seven other victims in the crash.
Beyonce Knowles-Carter opened the memorial by performing her hit single 'XO'.
"I'm here because I love Kobe," Beyonce told the crowd, "and that was one of his favorite songs."
She also sang 'Halo' at the service.
Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys also performed at the memorial. The former sang 'Ave Maria' in honour of the late basketball star while the latter performed Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata.'
The night was full of moving tributes, perhaps the most emotional of which were given by Michael Jordan and Kobe's widow, Vanessa Bryant.
Vanessa spoke of her "sweet husband," saying "He was mine - he was my everything.
"Kobe loved me more than I could express."
Speaking tearfully of her daughter, she spoke of how she would "never get to see her walk down the aisle" and that Gianna "will never get to have a father-daughter dance with her daddy."
"When Kobe Bryant died, a piece of me died," reflected a tearful Michael Jordan.
"That nuisance turned into love over a period of time," Jordan added. "At first, it was an aggravation, but then it turned into a certain passion. This kid had passion like you would never know.
"He wanted to be the best basketball player that he could be, and as I got to know him, I wanted to be the best big brother that I could be."
