Well this little one's going to have a birthday story that trumps everyone else she ever meets and she's barely a day old.
A woman in Carlow went into labour as she was driving herself to Kilkenny's St. Luke's Hospital in freezing conditions and fog when she crashed into a roundabout outside the city, and if it weren't for a passing retired Garda and his wife, things could have been a lot more serious.
According to RTÉ, Eamonn and Mae Doyle came upon the accident and found the woman in the car with the door open and lying across the passenger seat, who allegedly told Mrs. Doyle 'Get ready to catch my baby' before the newborn 'popped out into her arms'.
An ambulance arrived on the scene some 20 minutes after Mr. Doyle initially called to find the newborn wrapped in a blanket and took mother and child to St. Luke's where the child was said to be suffering mild hypothermia but was later reported as being safe and well.
The mother-of-three (four now we guess) was said to very grateful to all those who helped her and her as-of-yet unnamed 7lb daughter.
