Union J star JJ Hamblett has become a father for the first time.

The boybander's girlfriend, model Caterina Lopez, gave birth to a boy at 9:30am this morning, who weighed in at 6lb ,and both mother and baby are doing well.

Revealing the happy news on Twitter, JJ tweeted:

Caterina went into labour on Wednesday and JJ could barely contain his excitement as he waited for their son to be born.

In earlier tweets, he said: 'AND NOW WE WAIT!!! :-))))))) x ... NOT LONG NOW!!!!!! Sooooooo excited :))))) xxx (sic)'

Since revealing he has become a dad JJ - who is joined in Union J by Josh Cuthbert, Jaymi Hensley and George Shelley - has been inundated with congratulatory messages on his Twitter page. One Direction star Niall Horan was among the hundreds of well-wishers. His message read: 'Congrats JJ mate!'

And then we got our first peek at the wee baba, and a name. As celeb (term used loosely) baby names go, this one isn't that bad. It's still not all that good either.
