With other teams protesting to ensure that they got paid their bonuses, the Argentine squad has made a fine gesture in donating theirs to a children's hospital.
Reaching the World Cup final and doing their nation proud, the Argentine team had already won themselves plenty of admirers, but they've surely gained a new level of respect with the news that they donated their bonuses to a children's hospital.
The $135,000 dollars given by the squad will go towards a new pediatric oncology centre that is currently under construction at the Garrahan hospital in Buenos Aires, and the decision to donate the bonus was made by team captain Lionel Messi and inspirational player Javier Mascherano on June 19th.
Messi, who has been involved with the hospital since 2010, was the one who pushed the rest of the team to donate the money to that cause, while Mascherano had narrowed down the original list by asking that it be donated to a hospital. A good gesture all round.
