Today is the first day of April which normally means one thing - April Fools.
But in light of current circumstances, and various other events and activities being cancelled, should April Fools Day be called off too?
Someone was bound to initiate the debate on Twitter. Now several have joined in.
Some say yes, of course, it absolutely should be cancelled.
April Fools’ Day is cancelled this year in light of the COVID pandemic.
Have a heart, please. No hoaxes.#Covid_19— Miss Maggie (@MiaMagdalena) March 31, 2020
By the way, April Fools is cancelled tomorrow. Keep your jokes to yourself because this whole year has been one already. We tired.
Tomorrow is March 32nd.— Chris J. Suggs (@chrisjsuggs) March 31, 2020
April fool's day is cancelled this year because no made up prank could match the unbelievable shit going on in the world right now

Others maintain no, it needs to go ahead, as we need a laugh now more than ever.
We should not cancel April fools day. Right now a majority of us need a laugh more than ever. There is a fine line for jokes, but damn- I need something to smile at

Nah I’m definitely pranking my loved ones. There is enough gloom and doom right now

Then there are those who kindly request we not cancel it as April 1st is their birthday.
Some suggested we replace it with nice things.
PSA: Tomorrow is April 1st and normally it is referred to as #AprilFoolsDay but this year April Fools Day is CANCELLED!
This year instead of playing pranks on people lets try to do something good for others.

Best of all were the hopeful thoughts that these lives we're currently leading have been a joke. And the punchline that it was all a trick will be unveiled today.
I’m praying April rolls in tomorrow like “APRIL FOOLS. 2020 CAN START NOW!” 😩🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/9ibrOGDFfh
