There was a furore on Twitter over the weekend when Ant and Dec commented on Northern Ireland’s relationship with Great Britain.
During the Sofa Watch: Battle of Britain segment on their Saturday Night Takeaway show, Dec said: "Northern Ireland isn't actually part of Great Britain, but we still want it to be part of sofa watch."
The comment did not go down well with several tweeters, with responses ranging from confused and unimpressed to furious.
So when did northern Ireland leave great Britain? @antanddec

Yup totally correct. NI is not part of Britain, Britain is the physical island itself. NI is part of the United Kingdom. Of course, we all know why..... hope the NI media ARE all over this on Monday, maybe factual reminders are required!
