We know that Wetherspoons is going to be cheap, but it also should be open in time for the Christmas rush.
As your social calendar begins to fill up and you start looking worriedly at your bank balance, you may be wondering is there a cheap spot where you can get a few drinks in this December. Well, if you're out in Dun Laoghaire, then the answer is yes, or at least it's soon to be yes.
Another branch of the much-talked about Wetherspoons will be opening its doors in the suburb this month, as it will be serving its first punters on December 16th. The pub chain has caused much controversy and been the source of a lot of debate for publicans here, who claim they can't compete with their low prices.
The chain spent nearly €3 million developing the 40 Foot (which will be renamed The Forty Foot) and will apparently specialise in 'real ales and craft beer'. The bar itself is spread out across two floors and a terrace area, so there should be plenty of room for you and your mates on your twelve pubs.
This new pub will join the Three Tun Tavern in Blackrock as the second Wetherspoons location in Ireland, and if their success in the UK is anything to go by, there will be plenty more coming down the line.
